Passed with Flying Colors

I am sorry for the belatedness of this news. As many of our readers may know Jordan sat for his last test in mid November and we have been awaiting the results. Over the holidays ...actually December 31st to be exact he was notified electronically that he passed the exam. YEAH!!! What a relief it was for him to find out. He has been checking pretty regularly for the scores to be posted. When they say 4-6 weeks it seems like no time, but when you are waiting to hear back on something it seems like an eternity.
If you are a Grey's Anatomy fan this test is the one that George didn't pass during his 1st internship year. Even though residency is much different from the way they portray it on Grey's there are some good things that come of it even if that is me being able to explain some of the ins and outs a little easier with the illustration of the show.
The next exam that Jordan has to take will be toward the end of residency when he sits for the Family Practice Board Exam which will give him the right to claim to be a board certified family physician.

Other news regarding my great hubby...
Jordan is now working on his Internal Medicine inpatient rotation. Some of you may better understand this to be a hospitalist. He is working at The General - Downtown everyday so he sometimes gets to come home for lunch or in between patients to chill. On this rotation he works with the patients that are admitted to the hospital who either don't have a doctor that they call their own or who's doctor does not make hospital visits. Many doctors are switching to the use of an internal medicine group of doctors to see their patients in the hospital instead of making hospital visits. Jordan is working 6 days a week on this rotation and stays at the hospital every 5th night to take call. Bummer! Those nights are my chick-flick nights. I try to stay up late and watch all the girly movies that I can. Jordan still sees patients in the clinic about once a week. They have hit the 6 month mark now in the residency! That means he doesn't have to precept on all the patients, so things are moving much faster in the clinic. He also has many repeat patients so he is familiar with their cases. He doesn't have to spend near the amount of time to get to know their medical history and pre-existing conditions as he does with brand new patients.

Did you catch the 6 months part...yah, I can't believe it either. We have been here in Baton Rouge for 6 months now...we are really enjoying our time here. There is so much to do outdoors and the weather is cooperative most of the time for those activities. It is also central to a lot of fun places to visit within just a few hours. Baton Rouge is a town that grows on you and feels more small town each and everyday even though it has the commodities of a big city. Another bonus is that it is still close enough for each of our families to make a weekend trip to come visit when they have the free time.
