It's finally beginning to feel like fall in the capitol city. It's been months since we last posted so there is lots to catch you up on. If you haven't already heard Jordan is now moonlighting for an after hours clinic in our area so he is working some extra hours on the weekends. He has enjoyed the new experience so far. At the after hour clinics he is one of two doctors on duty so their is a lot of autonomy and exposure to a variety of cases.
I am staying busy at the church planning the events for the fall and winter. We just had our first ever Trunk-R-Treat and there was an amazing turn out. The families that came out and decorated their trunks had a lot of fun letting their creativity come out in order to turn their trunks into a work of art. The kids were so cute dressed in there costumes. We had princesses, superheros, dinosaurs, hula girls/boys, warriors, and ninjas wandering around collecting candy and treats from each trunk. Our mission team going to Haiti raised over $100 through concession sales at the event.
Speaking of missions we have been very busy getting ready for our church's mission trip to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. As i sit here this morning watching the morning news it looks as though our focus for the Haitian people could take a turn with the threat of hurricanes on their horizon. Man some people just can't get a break! Whatever happens we are thrilled to get the opportunity to go and serve. Jordan will be serving on the medical team while i work with the children teaching them about Jesus. We will also have a team of skilled construction workers going with us to help rebuild pastors homes and churches that suffered destruction in the earthquake. Our goal is to help the pastors and churches rebuild and get back to a state that they can serve the Haitian people in their communities better.
