Long Days and Long Nights

Well, Jordan is finishing up his last ER rotation this month. He is working three 7am-7pm shifts in a row. I love it when he works the ER because he comes home with interesting stories. The long hours are a downer though.
I am training VBS teachers this week for the Baptist Association. We held one training tonight and another on Thursday. Tonight I had 25 attendees in my class so we had a lot of fun. They were very interactive and had a lot to offer in our discussion time.
Jordan and I will keep busy this weekend doing some recruiting for the Family Practice Residency.

A Confession....In my spare time I have noticed that the only channel I have been watching is HGTV. With the news of moving to Alaska I am hoping to have the opportunity to live somewhere that will need some painting and fixing up (not a lot, just a little). I just want to pick out our own paint colors and change things up a little. I was disappointed to find out that HGTV, Property Virgins is only accepting applicants in the Toronto area.

Have you seen the homes in Alaska though? They are definetly different from the beautiful Acadian style homes we have here in Louisiana. They focus on what the view is from the front porch rather than what the front porch looks like.

It Looks Like The Downings Are Moving From The Bayou

We are excited that the wait is over and the results are in. The Air Force is stationing us in Anchorage, Alaska for the next three years. That's right you heard it hear first hand Jordan is going to be a doctor to the Eskimo's and we are going to live in an igloo (not the kind you take on a picnic, but the kind built out of ice). O.K. just kidding.
We are super excited about this transition and we have already been making our list of things we want to do and see while we are there. I just hope that three years will be enough time to do it all. We would love to have you come visit and enjoy the sites with us.
While we are super excited about the adventures to come we are sad to move so far away from our friends and family so we are focused on enjoying the time we have with our friends here in Baton Rouge and making the most of our times together. Of course they all say they are going to come visit Alaska so we look forward to having them join us there for vacations.
Jordan is working long hours in his ER rotation and counting down the months remaining as a resident. He will graduate from being a Resident on June 25th. Celebration!!!
I am gearing up for a busy April, May and June with Easter, Baby Dedication, Vacation Bible School and Children's Camps. I will work into July a the church so I will have one last summer with the children at Woodlawn. I am looking forward to spending that time with them finishing strong in the children's ministry here. We have truly been blessed by our family at Woodlawn.
