Hurricane Ike and my parents...

This news report just in from my Dad. He and my mom
are riding out the storm in Conroe at their home. This report was sent to me around 7:45 this morning and at that time the worst of the hurricane winds had yet reach them North of Houston.

HURRICANE Ike Reporter. After a dark, wet, windy night we finally have some daylight. This is a report of what I can see as of 7:30.

First we are fine and still in the dark but daylight is here.

The huge oak at the East end of the house blew down toward the front driveway and missed the dining room corner by a smidgen. Some trees topped, like clipped off with a big clipper. We can not get out to the driveway in the back. The huge oak north of the garage is now part of the garage. The front half of the garage is slightly worse for wear. It seems to have a tree growing in it.

We don't know if any of the cars got destroyed because we can't see the driveway for the fallen tree and it is still too windy and rainy to get outside safely. We would have to go out the front door because the back sidewalk is blocked by the fallen tree.

I am able to get out because my laptop battery still has a little juice and my Verizon wireless broadband is still working.

I will attempt to keep you all posted of my parents status as the storm passes through their area. Communication is a little limited due to electricity and the overload of phone calls. The only communication I have had with them is text and email.
